The most common type of roof used for sheds is the gable roof. This allows water, limbs, snow, and ice to slide off the roof easily - preventing roof damage.
It also allows room for attic space or extra high ceilings in backyard sheds - great for storing items you do not use often (if adding an attic), or for hanging bikes and other equipment up out of the way.
